Scandinavian Airlines receives another 737-800 ‘next generation’
SAS Scandinavian Airlines received her 78th Boeing 737 in her fleet end of May in Stockholm and started its scheduled flights in June. This Boeing 737-800 ‘next generation’ suits the strategy from Scandinavian Airlines to be one of the most environment friendly airlines in the world.
The planes are delivered with winglets that reduce the use of fuel to a minimum and are excellent to use for so called ‘green landings’. SAS was the first to introduce this kind of landings on her Swedish hub ‘Stockholm Arlanda’ airport.
Another ordered 737-800 will be delivered to SAS Scandinavian Airlines this summer and in the autumn and winter, two new Boeing 737-700s are expected.
SIA flies its inaugural Airbus A330-300 commercial flight to Brisbane
SIA’s inaugural A330-300 commercial flight took off from Singapore Changi Airport on 30 March 2009 to Brisbane, Australia. The arrival of SIA’s A330- 300 coincided with the 25th anniversary of SIA’s operation of services into the city.
The SIA A330-300 is configured in a two-class layout, with 30 new business class seats and 255 economy class seats. Progressively, the planes will enter service between Singapore and other cities in Australia (Adelaide and Perth), then Japan (Nagoya and Osaka).

SWISS puts its first Airbus A330-300 into service
As from April 20th, SWISS’s first Airbus A330-300 is deployed on flights LX 14/15 between Zurich and New York. Three further A330-300s will join the SWISS fleet this year. The new long-hauler consumes around 13% less fuel per passenger than the A330-200 it replaces.
The Airbus A330-300 offers substantially more legroom in Economy, an air-cushioned seat that can be turned into a two-metre lie-flat bed in business and a “suite above the clouds” in first.
